For homeowners
Now that you live in the Lowcountry, here's how to maintain your home
Charleston homes fail in ways homes elsewhere don't: humidity, salt air, Formosan termites, hurricane season, and sunny-day flooding. The Home Care Club gives you a month-by-month plan for exactly what to do, when to do it, and what it should cost — so problems get prevented instead of repaired.
Humidity is the real landlord
Dew points sit in the 70s for five months. We tell you exactly when to change filters, flush condensate lines, and run a dehumidifier — before mold and cupped floors show up.
Termite season has a calendar
Formosan termites swarm here on a schedule. Your February reminder gets the bond in place before the swarm, not after the damage.
Storm season starts in May, not August
Tree work, shutter hardware, insurance photos, and the flood-policy waiting period all have to happen before a name is on the map.
Salt air and king tides
Coastal metal corrodes fast and sunny-day flooding is now routine. Fall tasks cover rinsing, grading, drains, and the tide calendar.

A taste — February in Charleston
Formosan termites, the aggressive species Charleston is nationally known for, begin swarming in spring. A termite bond has to be in place before the swarm. Renew or start one with a licensed South Carolina operator now — expect $400–$900 a year, and take the version with repair coverage, not just retreatment. While you're at it, move firewood and mulch 18 inches off the foundation and clear the crawlspace vents.
Members get this level of detail for all twelve months, plus the warning signs for each.

$29 a month, cancel anytime from your dashboard. One avoided condensate leak or frozen pipe pays for years of it.
